song: haunt me (x 3) by teen suicide

"Any idea what happened?" Clarke asks Bellamy as I cool down. My breathing begins to slow as I look up at Bellamy.

"Del was feeding the fire." I drone out, trying to keep my temper in check. I see Bellamy's fist curl at the mere mention of the boy that called his sister a slut.

"So did Murphy," Clarke adds. I narrow my eyes at her. She said it as if my explanation wasn't believable.

"I don't trust Murphy, but I trust Hailey." He says, eyeing me. I nod in appreciation.

Standing, I put myself next to Bellamy. "How much do we have?" I ask hopefully.

"Food?" Clarke asks, raising her brows. "Nothing." She answers, shaking her head.

I sigh, defeated, before nodding. "Then we have to hunt." I turn to Bellamy. "Anyone we can spare goes out," I say firmly.

His eyebrows raise. "With the whole grounder army out there?" He shakes his head. "You know better than anyone else that it isn't safe out there."

I narrow my eyes at him. "It's either we go out there and hunt for food or we starve in here and the grounders find our already-dead corpses." I dead-pan, taking a step closer to him, making the gap between us a mere inches. "What would you rather do, Bell?" I tilt my head to the side. "Die a coward, trapped in here, scared or die trying to survive?" I ask, sparing a glance down to his lips before I hear Clarke clear her throat.

"Um, guys?" She says, breaking the tension in the room. I glance over at her and see her cheeks are stained red in embarrassment.

I jump away from Bellamy once I realise how close we were.

I mutter a small, "Sorry." I glance up at Clarke to see her staring at me with an indecipherable facial expression. She quickly glances away once she realises I'm looking at her.

"My point still stands," Clarke says once she collects her bearings. "We can't defend ourselves if we're starving."

I nod at her, agreeing.

Bellamy shakes his head. "No." He says looking at the two of us. "No way." I tilt my head at him.

"Even if you say no, I'll just go out by myself and get food for the whole hundred." I slowly nod my head and glance at Clarke. "Which would mean staying out for hours alone."

He narrows his eyes at me. "I know what you're doing and it's not going to work." I widen my eyes and tilt my head.

He sighs and stares at me for a second before breaking. "I hate you."

I smile lightly. "No, you don't." He looks back up at me and smiles.

"No, I don't."
