the greatest dream
you asked your daughter what her greatest dream was
she said that she wanted to be an astronaut or a superhero
the kind of things only a kid could think of
your daughter has bags under her eyes from countless sleepless nights
your daughter has smoke in her lungs and scars on her body
your daughter has an anger and resentment inside of her that eats away at her mind
your daughter longs for the childhood she was owed
you asked your daughter what her greatest dream was
my greatest dream is to take a brick and smash it against my head until my skull breaks open and everything is quiet
