I was not happy.
That time of the month had arrived and my mood had taken a downwards swing along with getting no sleep last night at all. It took my everything to keep smiling and continue with a good attitude as cramps tried to tear my stomach apart. None of the Santiagos showed. I assumed they were recovering from the vicious onslaught the Simpsons had laid on them the night before.
When my shift finally came to an end, I was up and out the back door in an instant, almost forgetting to even take my payslip. Grabbing it, I scowled to myself as I marched to the exit, thinking about having a long hot shower when I got home.
It nearly made me smile.
Until I came face to face with none other than Blue eyes.
He was standing outside the back door, hands deep in his pockets and his face looking serious and a little bit red from the cold. I didn't even attempt to say anything to him, I wasn't in the right frame of mind.
"Coral," he called after me as I walked right past him.
In fact, right now was the worst time that this could be happening. I didn't want to snap at him, but I knew that was what would happen if he kept going.
"Wait," Ario grabbed my arm in a firm but not too tight grip.
"Get off me," I snarled, not even able to look him in the face.
"Relax," he frowned, releasing me. "I wanted to talk to you."
"About?" I lifted my gaze to give him my full attention.
Ario hesitated and I shook my head at him, "I have to go."
"Coral," he said again, looking at me with sad eyes.
"I'm not in the mood," I frowned, looking away.
"Is this because of the baby?" he asked me.
"Do you even have to ask?" my frown intensified.
I went to leave again, but Ario took hold of my wrist and I snapped. Shouting at him, I yanked my arm from him angrily and even went back to give him a shove in the chest.
"Was that really necessary?" he asked, barely taking a step back, which only made me madder. Today just wasn't my day.
"Leave me alone!" I yelled in his face so hard that my voice cracked and tears sprang to my eyes.
My throat hurt and I refused to let him see that I was close to tears. Ario looked down at me in surprise, his lips parted as if he was about to say something. He paused for too long, because I was already gone. Storming down the street and chose not to think about what had just happened.
