Butterfly

Outside she was like a butterfly
Going from person to person
Making their day a little brighter
Trying to make everyone happy

Then comes her "friends"
The birds
They peck at her wings
Taking everything beautiful and lovely about her away

This is the routine everyday
She didn't mind
Everyday new wings would grow back
But falling apart day after day

Inside, the butterfly went into hiding
Behind dusty curtains
Trapped under blankets
In musty closets
Crying

The beautiful butterfly became melancholy
Not caring about others
She turned into nothing but a sad, lonely girl
And she realizes she has been one all along
