There once was...

There once was a sad girl
Who fell for a happy boy
And he became her sun, her light, her everything
She talked about him like he put the stars in the sky
And the flowers on the earth
She loved him more than every grain of sand
Her favorite book
Lazy Sundays
And baggy sweaters
And even more than all the scars that covered her body
But nothing lasts forever
And he left her
Like everyone else
The girl learned
To love someone else
You must first love yourself
Because your happiness
Cannot rely on another person
Because as quickly as they come, they go
There once was a sad girl
That fell for a happy boy
And he took away her sun, her light, her everything
