The first song I heard from your speakers was my favorite song. I remember this because it was the first time I heard it. And I remember the way you smiled at me as you recall the first time you played its chords.

I remember the first love song I heard from your speakers. It was the song I shared with you the first time we went to the garden. My hands were uncertain, but you lead me across the rose bushes and I told you about love songs, and roses, and strawberries.

I remember the sad songs you played when I borrowed your favorite book. You told me about the comfort there was with the pain. And I told you how sad songs put me to sleep every night.

I don't remember the last song I heard from your speakers. I only remember how you turn the music down whenever you see me. And you told me you can't bear to listen to any more of your playlist. Because every song reminds you of me.
