"Cheer tryouts are today!" Avani basically screamed. "I know I'm so excited. It's our last year cheering here." I made a sad face at Avani as we walked away from my locker. The day was really boring and went by super slow, but it was finally time for cheer tryouts. Me and Avani already knew we were already gonna make the team but you know, we have to go to tryouts. We went to the football field and saw the boys were also having tryouts, this was gonna be fun.
"We need to make 3 pyramids split up into 3 groups" The coach yelled then blew her whistle. I was one of the lightest on the cheer team so I had to go on the top of one of the pyramids. I was standing on top and saw a football flying at my face and with my reflexes I naturally caught it. I got down from the pyramid and walked the ball over to the football players, since I couldn't throw to save my life. "I'm sorry I almost hit you" one of the boys said, and I laughed. "Don't worry about it." He smiled threw his helmet. "I'm Josh..." I laughed "I know we've only been in the same classes for three years." He now laughed and said "oh right Mackenzie" i just kept smiling. "Mackenzie back over here." I heard the coach yell. "I should probably get going" I was still smiling, "see you later" he waved and walked the other direction.
Avani was smiling at me as I walked over "what was that about." Her smiled turned to a smirk. "I just gave him the football back" she raised an eyebrow "mhm I ship." I shook my head "Avani no" I laughed and we continued with are tryouts. Right after tryouts ended the coach cut people on the spot. "Avani, Mackenzie I need to talk to you guys." We looked at eachother a little nervously. "You girls know your on the team right?" We sighed in relief "you two will also be the varsity captains." We squealed "oh my- ahh thank you so much!" We screamed and hugged the coach. We went to the girls locker room and changed into normal clothes. Once we walked out Anthony (Avanis boyfriend), Josh and Jaden were walking out of the boys locker room at the same time. "Me and Mackenzie are the cheer captains for varsity." Avani screamed. "Aww I'm proud of you both!" Anthony was like a bestfriend to me. "Me and Jaden are the captains for varsity football." I heard Josh say "that's so fun." I said. Avani nudged me and I looked at her. "We should get going." Jaden said, pulling Josh and Anthony by the arm. "See you guys later..." I smiled and waved. "He's cute" I looked at her confused "who?" She gave me a confused look back, "what do you mean who!! Josh" "Avani you have boyfriend!!" I said jokingly, she shook her head "for you I mean..." I rolled my eyes and we got in my car and drove to my house.
We got to my house and Bryce and Blake were sitting at the table. "Hey how was tryouts?" Bryce asked "Amazing me and Avani are varsity cheer captains." Once again me and Avani screamed "congrats" Blake put his hand up for a high five, and me and Avani both gave him one. "Where's mom and dad?" "They went to the grocery to buy dinner." Bryce answered me and Avani nodded. Bryce is my older brother who decided not to go to college and stay home and help out, and Me and Blake are in the same grade but he is 2 months older than me. And Avani has been my best friend since 1st grade. "Me and Avani are going to my room." We walked up the stairs to my room and our phones dinged

"Dude the conversation was getting good." Avani whined, "no it was getting out of control." We both laughed then heard the door we went downstairs and assumed it was my parents, we were right. "Hey girls how was tryouts?" My mom asked us and we explained to her how we were the cheer captains. "Not surprised you two have been cheering since you could walk." My dad chimed in and we laughed. "So what's for dinner?" I asked my parents, "just some pasta tonight and some garlic bread." My mom smiled at us. "Yesss my favorites." Avani continued talking "Oh yeah Kenzie met a boy today!!" Avani was close to my parents like I was with hers so it wasn't weird talking about this stuff. "Really?!" My mom and dad both said, "okay one I didn't just meet him we've gone to highschool together for 4 years now. Two we barely know eachother and there is no three." They laughed "they like eachother and they know it." I rolled my eyes. Once dinner was ready we ate and Avani went home. I decided to post on my instagram
