She chants the words over and over
Talk less.....
smile more.....
it's her only cover
She knows the truth deep down inside
They'll only love the mask she hides
Her heart aches as she plays the part
A puppet on strings with a fragile heart
They'll never see the real her
For she's convinced they wouldn't want to know
She longs to be true to let it all out
But fear tells her no that it's better to doubt
So she smiles and nods and plays along
Hiding her pain to not seem too strong
But deep in her soul the mantra lingers
Whispering lies its grasp it lingers
She'll never know love for who she is
For they only see the fake smile she gives.
