Chapter 8- Replay

            Liam. Payne. In the flesh. My knees buckled slowly, almost like the world was ripped from under me. Bethany giggled as soon as he entered; she seemed abnormally okay with this super famous boy in her hospital room. It was beyond me. Brittany and I were both beside ourselves; my eyes trailed him carefully, and I could tell that Brittany was examining him too with the look he gave us.

            I couldn’t help it. I started jumping up and down, causing my boots to click on the tiled floor. Brittany straightened herself. Her ponytail began to sway behind her as she ran her hands over her shirt and tried to look more presentable. I wanted to laugh at her, but I was too enthralled with the fact that Liam was staring straight at me. “Hi! Yeah, I’m Liam.” Liam waved at us with his left hand, his hat held tightly in the other. I glanced over just enough to see little Bethany roll her eyes.

            I grabbed Brittany’s arm for dear life. She gasped suddenly and began to dig in her purse, pulling out a notebook and pen for Liam to sign an autograph. Without a word, she handed it to him, turning back to me to gush like an idiot. I didn’t care how ridiculous we looked; of course we probably both looked like idiots.

            “Uh…” Liam stammered suddenly while looking at the notebook he was signing. “You girls want to take a few pictures?”

            “Sure,” we both gushed again. Liam smiled, making me want to faint. I fumbled nervously for my phone and Brittany and I crowded around Liam Payne for a picture. I still get shivers just thinking about it. We took one normal picture and a few silly ones. Liam signed autographs for me, Brittany, and Jessie, and then he headed over to Bethany’s bed to speak with her.

            Brittany and I went back and glanced through the photos of us with Liam. I couldn’t help wondering how Liam and Bethany were so close. The thought of him being here, walking so casually into Bethany’s hospital room was crazy! And Lizzy had to have known about it! She never told me; I would never let her live it down now. She was friends with Liam Payne!

            The door creaked open suddenly and Dr. Phyliss, Bethany’s doctor while she was in hospital care, walked in, her eyes bright with enthusiasm. I could tell she was just as excited as the rest of us to see Bethany wide awake. Her eyes didn’t hold any kind of shock at Liam’s presence, which told me all I needed to know. Liam was a regular visitor here.

            “Oh, hey, Bethany! I see you have some visitors.”

            “I think its time for my checkup,” Bethany said to Liam. “Hey, Dr. Phyliss!”

            “Well, I’ll see you later, Bethany!” Liam gave a heart-shuddering wink to Bethany and slapped his hat on his gorgeous hair. He turned to leave, and I decided to follow, basically because I was morbidly curious as to why he was here.

            “Bye, Doctor! Bye, Bethany!” I said quietly as I turned to leave. Brittany was so excited that she tried to skip in front of me, leaving her purse behind. Dr. Phyliss stopped her and handed it back before we left from the hospital room.

            Liam had already almost made it to the elevator. “Liam! Wait!” Brittany called. Well, she had more bravery than me. The few people that were in the hallway stared us down. Brittany caught up to Liam just as the elevator opened. It was packed with people, all on their way downstairs. Brittany blushed and looked at her phone. “I’d better catch this elevator. My sister needs a ride to a birthday party.”
