Oh, self-loathing,
My constant friend,
You're my companion,
To the bitter end.You cling to me,
Like a shadow in the night,
Too strong to run from,
Too hard to fight. You feed on my soul,
You dim my light,
And leave me numb,
Without any might.I hate you,
Yet I cannot let you go,
You're part of me,
I've come to know.We dance this dance,
A sad ballet,
I'm getting tired,
Everyday.Until we part,
I'll hold my ground,
And try to hear a different sound. The voice of love,
Of hope,
Of peace,
My heart is telling me to release.I'll take your lessons,
But not your pain,
For I want to live,
Not just remain.
