like we were teens

Last night we held hands under the moonlight while the stars twinkled like giggling babies high on sugar
And you told me how much you loved me, your breath, hot in my ear
and the grass, cool beneath my palm
We kissed under the neon sign
right where the skyscraper met the sky
and the security chased us away
even though we weren't trespassing
and we giggled like we were teenagers
and we would live for ever.
I woke to find it was a dream
we never held hands
your breath hadn't caressed my skin
And I never tasted your sweet lips
And yet I hear your voice
And one thing I'm sure would take me through this bleak Monday
is that one day we'd hold hands
and we'd kiss
and we'd giggle like we were teens.
