Garden Flowers

Oh how I wish I was a garden flower,
Well taken cared of.
Watered, weeded, fertilized, landscaped and looked at.

Oh how I wish I was a garden flower,
But I'm just a seed that fell from a tree that grew in the wild.
I was planted by nature.
Nature that has a way of being unfairly fair.

Oh how I wish I was a garden flower.
I would be picked at less by birds,
And the bees would love me.
Maybe a butterfly would land on my petals,
And my roots could grow free.

Oh how I wish I was a garden flower,
But I'm a backyard weed.
Trampled, trimmed, sprayed, pulled and unseen.

Oh how I wish I was a garden flower,
And I'll work hard,
So maybe one day I'll be.
I'll grow a flower,
The prettiest one I can,
So that maybe I'd get a glance.

Oh how I wish I was garden flower,
Cause now even with the most beautiful flowers I can produce,
I'm still just a backyard weed,
And I fear this cycle of trying to grow four leaves instead of my useless three will repeat,
Cause it seems like only garden flowers can be garden flowers,
And I'm a backyard weed.
