I made my way to the sweet, little girl and my husband. I squatted down and introduced myself, as I did not really get the chance to yet. "Hello Lexi," I said softly as she was still fumbling with her zebra.

She looked up with her big eyes, "Hello." She remained for a short while quiet as she was thinking what to say next. "Who are you?" She asked the question again. I think she meant 'why' and not 'who' but due to her mind of state she had probably trouble with finding the right word to do so.

"We are your possible new parents." I said carefully. Again, a frown appeared on her little face. She was thinking again. "Like my mommy and daddy?"

"Yes, like your mommy and daddy." Peter confirmed. Lexi did not look happy. "I not need new mommy and daddy."

Instead of getting angry or annoyed we both remained calm, knowing she was simply confused. "And why do you think you do not need a new mommy and daddy?" I asked softly. I put my fingers through her hair and caressed her cheek. I thought she would repulse from my actions, but she did not. It almost felt like she was leaning into me.

I could not deny that did not do anything for me. Sparks of hope grew in my stomach, saying she was our girl. Saying I had made the right decision.

"Because... Because I..." It was difficult to watch a person who did not know what was happening to her. "I not need new mommy and daddy!" She yelled through the room while putting her little arms up and down to make her point.

I saw Dennis making his way to her, a bit agitated. I could understand it was difficult to handle a toddler who had tantrums any other minute. Only Lexi was not mad at anyone, she was just frustrated. So before Dennis would make her only more frustrated, I saw Peter take action.

He picked Lexi up and put her in his lap. I saw right now tears making their way down on Lexi's sweet face. "Now, there is no need to cry for a pretty princess like you Lexi." Peter hummed. He wiped her tears away. "We will take good care of you. We will let you eat ice cream; we will go to the park or the zoo and we can play all day long with your toys. And when it is time to sleep, I will sing you a song or tell you a bedtime story, how does that sound?"

"Really?" She asked. You could see how she regressed, right in that moment she was in Peters arms. "Really." Peter assured.

Lexi made herself comfortable in his lap, leaning her body against his chest while playing with her stuffed animal. My husband and I locked eyes and we both knew right then she would be our little girl.

After our sweet moment Peter and I had to sign some papers and then we were good to go. We had already prepared ourselves. A car seat was in its place. We had a sippy cup filled with water and toddler friendly cookies. Next to that we had diapers, pullups, and a pacifier.

Peter had Lexi in his arms while we were walking to our car. Before I wanted to say goodbye to Dennis, he wanted to say something else first. "I'm glad you accepted the adoption. But I just wanted to make sure you know she is still in between state with her headspace. So those temper tantrums will not stop soon, unfortunately. If you need help feel free to call me at any time."

God this boy could be so nervous, it was almost cute.

"Dennis like I said I understand her situation and we know she is not like any two-year-old, but for us that does not matter. I have taken some days off from work so we all could settle in with each other. Do not worry. Thank you for all the help."

I extended my hand, and he took it. He wished us a safe travel and with that we entered the car and headed to our home.

A/N: I know this is a short chapter, but I do not have more time to write more and I really wanted to upload a chapter for you. I promise this is not a filler chapter. The next chapter will take off where this one stopped, probably from Lexi's p.o.v.

Next chapter will most likely be uploaded on thurseday!
