That one guy

You know,

you're wrong,
about that.

I am,
just a side character.

That's it.

I don't wanna admit it,
but I really am.

I'm the guy at school,
that one friend,
the comic relief who makes all the unfunny jokes,
the NPC in the background,
the third wheel,

the guy who shows up every episode,
doesn't really do anything too important,
and leaves after a scene.

And the audience doesn't wonder where he went,
because he's a side character.

The main cast may have laughs with him,

but they leave him in the last scene and don't think about him.
He's not THAT important to the plot.

He may do something important,
every once and a while,
start some new storyline that takes the plot somewhere,
or make another character inspired to do something,
or be the glue for lots of people.

And he might be important to some people.

But he's still just,
that one guy,
that nobody really worries about most of the time.
Why would they?
He's always going to be there,
sitting in the back,
listening to music.

Doing whatever side characters do when they don't have a line to say.

Why wouldn't people take him for granted if he's always going to be there when they need him?

And he has to act like everything is fine because that is his role to be completely fine and to be there when people need him and to be forgotten and thrown away when it's time for him to leave whatever show he's on and any time he tries to be more than that the world punishes him and puts him in his place and makes fun of him and makes all the other characters leave him because he better not DARE start believing the world revolves around him.

He has,
no great story to tell.

That's just his role.

To be that one guy.
