Chapter 42

Harry's POV

Cedric and I were sat on my bed researching for things to use to figure out our golden eggs. They were weird. Whenever we opened them we opened them, they just seemed to shriek.

"Will you just shut up." I glared at my egg.

Cedric chuckled and brushed a strand of hair out of my face "you look cute when you're angry."

I blushed and turned back to the egg. Opening it for what felt like the twelve thousandth time led to the same result. The ungodly screaming. I gave up and threw it across the room, making it slam shut.

I collapsed onto Cedric and groaned "that fucking egg will be the death of me."

Cedric wrapped his arms around me and held me close, my head was resting on his chest - I had to try not to blush at the feeling of his toned abs underneath my hand. He pressed a kiss to the top of my head and murmured "it'll be alright, we'll figure it out together."

I heard a rustle from the direction of the fireplace. I couldn't be bothered to move (Cedric made a remarkably good pillow) so I just called "who is it?"

I realised Cedric had stiffened up as though he had been caught red-handed stealing a cookie from a child's plate.

"Care to explain yourself pup?" A voice I knew all too well asked.

"That fucking egg is driving me nuts." I grumbled.

A calm voice laughed "so you decided to use Mr Diggory as a pillow."

I nodded and ran my hand through Cedric's hair, "yes, Ced, is very comfortable."

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Cedric blush before he kissed the top of my head.

"Dad, Papa, is that my brother in law?" My little sister asked curiously.

I sat up with a jerk. Cedric and I both turned the colour of my hair.

"Oh hello little sis, I didn't see you there." I stuttered.

Lyra bounded over to me and after climbing onto the bed, she hugged me tightly. She grinned at Cedric who smiled back.

"Hello, I'm Lyra Black-Lupin." She announced, holding out her hand.

My boyfriend took her hand and gently kissed her knuckles causing her to giggle, "Cedric Diggory, charmed to make your acquaintance."

I laughed fondly. It was nice seeing my boyfriend and little sister getting along. I stared at Cedric with the best puppy eyes I could muster (I've learnt a thing or two from Sirius) and asked, "have you forgotten about me?"

Cedric grinned down at me and stated, "I could never forget about you," before leaning down and gently kissing me on the lips. He gently cupped my chin while I had one of my hands tangled in his hair.

Sirius coughed. Cedric and I broke apart. He turned a deep shade of red while I grinned, slightly pleased with myself. After all, I had bagged the best looking guy in all of hogwarts.

"What's the answer to your sister's question cub?" Remus smirked.

"Remyyyyy." I groaned, my face heating up.

Cedric swooped in and saved me, "I'll answer your question Lyra. I am not your brother in law just yet. However I will be in the future."

My face heated up, staring up into Cedric's eyes I asked quietly "do you mean that?"

Cedric nodded, "I mean every word."

I hugged him tightly and I could just about see my parents smiling fondly. Well, Remus was smiling fondly, Sirius just looked as though he was debating whether or not to be a pain in the arse and interrupt us. From where I was, I could just about see Remus holding Sirius' right wrist, stopping him from drawing his wand.

When I pulled back from Cedric I asked, "so what did you want?"

"Well you know that egg you were trying to figure out-" Sirius began.

I groaned and hid my head in Cedric's chest.

"It's been a right pain in the arse." He commented, wrapping his arms around me.

"It sounds awfully like a mermaid when they talk above water." Remus continued.

"So if you listened to it underwater it may sound like English." Sirius finished.

I sat up and gasped "Moony, you're a genius."

Cedric nodded furiously "professor you're amazing."

Remus grinned, Lyra proceeded to clap and Sirius just looked offended.

"Do you not think I helped?" He asked.

"No you're dumb as shit." I responded casually causing everyone to laugh and Sirius to glare at me.

"So if we put the eggs underwater we'll hear it?" Cedric repeated after our laughter had subsided.

Remus nodded.

I grinned at him, and suggested "why don't you go get your swimming trunks then meet me outside the prefect's bathroom?"

Cedric blushed but agreed. Sirius glared at him, "touch her somewhere that makes her uncomfortable, and you'll lose your hands."

"And your dick." Remus glowered.

"And I'd hit you." Lyra grinned devilishly.

Cedric gulped and nodded in understanding, "I won't hurt her, don't worry, I could never bring myself to do that."

Remus and Sirius looked at him before smiling. I shot them both a glare "overprotective arseholes." I mumbled.

They laughed but left shortly after with Lyra so I could grab a bikini and a towel before walking out hand in hand with my Cedric.
